It's really rather nice to have a touch of summer while you're still in school. If I were home at this moment, I would probably be taking Vanilla, my horse, on a nice ride around our property, or maybe going for a swim, in the lake we have at the edge of my grandparents' property, just a mile away. My parents would be cooking outdoors, my dad is fascinated by this muggle cooking device. It's called a grill, and you burn charcoal and it heats up the racks and you cook things on them. My grandparents just got one, and they've been using it almost everything of the past summer. It's rather clever, and everything tastes slightly smoky. I think it's so strange and slightly wonderful.
I think I might be alone in saying this, but I really love the hot weather. I do enjoy the cool as well. I miss my jumpers when it's warm, but there is something about the summer weather that makes you feel like maybe school isn't really quite here just yet. Or maybe that's just me. I've been doing my studying by the lake, or skipping stones. I took a little lunch down there today, and ended up letting the cutest rabbit nibble on half of it. I don't mind sharing my carrot sticks with overly cute little bunnies. Not one bit. I'm going to go out there tomorrow and hope he's around again.
My parents are all ready asking about NEWTS, and to be honest, I've all ready started cataloging my notes, and getting my things in order for them. There is only one zoology healing training course in the entire UK, and it's extremely difficult to get into. I need to make the most of this year's marks, and of my NEWTS scores if I can expect a spot. It's so incredibly nerve wracking, and studying has been a challenge when all I can think of is failure. But, I'm determined to make it through, and have a spot in that facility.
It's so warm in Gryffindor tower, and I have so much work to get through, I think I might have to make a library night. At least it's both cool and quiet in there.
